Privacy

Short version: no accounts, no tracking, and no page names anyone as the subject of a Board order.

What we collect from visitors

Nothing automatic. No accounts, no advertising, no analytics script, no cookie set by this site. Searches run in your browser against static files — what you type is not sent to us, which is why a record has no address of its own.

What we collect when you write to us

The forms on this site send what you type to Formspree, which forwards it to our mailbox: your email address, and the details you give about a licence, a renewal cohort, a training need or a roster to check.

We use it to answer you, and — where you asked for continuing-education hours, or for a CPA — to look for providers or firms and pass your request on. We take no commission and we vouch for nobody. We have no arrangement with any provider or firm today; we are gathering these requests in order to go and find them, and we would rather say that than imply a service that does not yet exist. Say so in the message and we pass nothing on.

Ask us and we delete what you sent. There is no account to close.

The people named in the register

This site republishes a public register that names people in their professional capacity, published by the Washington State Board of Accountancy in the public domain. The Board states that it provides the file « to aid in verifying credentials and disciplinary history ».

No indexable page attaches a Board order to a name. 80 records carry a link to a signed order. Pages carry counts only; the link appears on the individual record, drawn in your browser from the part of the URL after the #, which is never sent to a server and cannot be indexed. We link to the Board’s document and never describe it. Why the line is drawn there.

No street address, ever. The source carries a town and a state, and that is all this site carries. We did not go and fetch a street address from anywhere else.

Lapsed and retired records are searchable, because answering « not found » about someone whose licence expired would be misleading. What is published about them is what the Board publishes: the status, the dates, the town.

Having your entry removed

If you are named on this site and would rather not be, write to us and we will remove you. You do not have to explain why, and we will not ask.

Two things this cannot do, and we say so plainly rather than let you find out later: it does not change the official register, which is where the record actually lives; and it does not remove you from anyone else's copy of the same public data.

Names, and why they appear here

This site republishes a public register that names people in their professional capacity. It does not use anyone's name or identity to endorse, advertise or sell anything, which is what Washington's Personality Rights Act (RCW 63.60) prohibits in Washington.

The distinction is not a technicality and we hold ourselves to it: no name on this site appears in an advertisement, and no name is used to suggest that someone recommends, supplies or is associated with anything sold here. If you think a page crosses that line, tell us and it comes down.
